dinner @ fahrenheit

I have the greatest circle of friends. Most of us have been friends since grade school. I consider myself really blessed to have such wonderful friendships in my life. I love a lot of things about “my girls” especially that they love to eat as much as me. Honestly, you’d think we were all seriously overweight by how much we eat and talk about food. Doing what we do best, we had dinner at Fahrenheit last night to celebrate a birthday. We were there for over two hours laughing, catching up, reminiscing and of course, eating.

It’s probably been well over a year since I’ve been there. I don’t think the expansion (with great wine wall, nice touch) was there yet. I always liked the decor inside. Very warm and stylish without being too chic and trendy. Although I must admit, I thought the bathroom was dated and messy. I have this thing with bathrooms – if you can’t keep a clean bathroom, what else isn’t clean. Not saying this is the case with Fahrenheit, I’m sure it’s not, it’s just one of my many things.

Anyway, what really matters is the food and boy was it delicious. I forgot how much I enjoyed the olive tapenade with warm, crusty bread. Such a simple thing, but I could make myself full of off that alone. I started off with a great glass of full-bodied Cabernet from South Africa (I think – I really need to start writing down the ones I like). I ordered the truffle and parm baby greed salad with goat cheese and mushroom crustilliant. I enjoyed the salad, and of course goat cheese, but didn’t think the crustillant had much taste. For dinner, my friend and I shared the scallops with artichokes, wild mushrooms and melted cheese; and braised short ribs with teriyaki lo-mein noodles. The scallops were absolutely fabulous. The combination of the bacon and mushrooms with the scallop was delicious. I was very happy with that dish. The short ribs were pretty good, too, but not the best I’ve ever had. That distinction would go to former Cleveland chef Keoko Turner who now has a place somewhere in Atlanta. Flying Fig and Parallax would be next on the list, followed by my version of Mario’s. The short ribs were good, and my friend loved them, I just thought they were a bit too rich and a little on the tough side. For dessert, we split the cookies and cupcake – all good.

All in all another good meal in Cleveland and another fabulous night with my friends.

Hi Michelle,
I appreciate your blog very much. I'm new to Cleveland (one year here!) and having lived in many cities believe that Cleveland has some of the best food/restaurants in the country. Fahrenheit is not one of them.
I recently went for the second time, hoping my first bad experience was just a one time thing. It was not.
The service was, without a doubt, the worst service I've had in years. It took a good five minutes for someone to take our drink order and another 10 for the drinks to actually arrive. When they came, they were not good... mine was watered down (a martini, so I assume it was sitting in the shaker a bit too long) and my friends Margarita was warm. The waiter seemed distracted and completely aloof. Thirty minutes after arriving the waiting finally took our order. The food came out fast (shockingly), but it all came out at once! Right on top of our appitizer. I'd give the food a C+, but the service an F. I was so disappointed because I love the Tremont area and I think the inside of the restaurant is beautiful, but twice is enough. My first experience wasn't much different: slow service, terrible drinks, mediocre food. However, the first time they had an amazing Lobster fondue appitizer that was to die for. It was not on this seasons menu, sadly.

Keep on, Keeping on!
Ryan

Good point, thanks! I'll remember that for the future.

Hey, Michelle,

Enjoy your items, but could you give us more description? Fabulous, delicious, pretty good, good, good ... How did they taste? Mouth feel? Did different elements blend or stand out on their own? Just like to know more! Thanks!
