GREAT INTERVIEW!

Don't tell Jonathon[Sawyer], but I have been planning a trip to Au Pied du Cochon for our 2 year wedding anniversary in Feb. I got the book for him last winter and he has been watching the dvd non stop. Our boy calls it the 'cook chefin' movie.

Cheers!

I knew they moved but didn't realized they closed. Too bad. We used to go there all the time when we lived downtown.

Max's closed last year and was supposed to open at the newly revamped westgate mall but now that's not happening, not sure of the details as to why.

I quit going to max's several years ago after several really bad meals with rude service. But they did used to have great desserts to take out.

August - good to hear from you! Welcome back.

Rockandroller - Melt has een on my list for awhile and so has Venezia (I think it's still open). I love his soups and have been wanting to try other things for some time. And Cafe Tandor is my favorite place for Indian. We go to the one behind Crocker a lot actually (my sisters live in Avon and North Ridgeville). You didn't mention Max's Deli. That's another west side spot I really like. And, I have to admit, I love Liquid Planet. They have a great Ruben wrap and the Elvis smoothie alone is worth the trip over the bridge.

I forgot Nuevo Acapulco in N. Olmsted; one of my faves for quick, inexpensive tex-mex. It's always very lively in there.

Well, I won't even bother to list all the great places in Tremont even though they're considered W, because when we talk about W side, I don't think that's really what we mean. So, off the top of my head:

Lakewood:
Melt - best grilled cheese in town and lots of varieties
Borderline Cafe - fantastic breakfasts (cash only)
Peppers for pizza
Clifton diner also has good breakfasts
I had great ragu at Venezia, Maha Orchid's place. Not sure if they are still open as I haven't been out that way in a bit, and good pizzas too.

Westlake: Moosehead Saloon (GREAT bar food and atmosphere, try the homemade chips & dip and, when the weather is good, a very nice patio)
Cafe Tandoor IMO has good Indian food though I've only been there twice (I like Indian, but only occasionally).

RRiver: Wine Bar is excellent (Linda and Detroit rds) and I've heard great things about the new British pub that opened up in Beachcliff.
Stino Da Napoli is one of the best little Italian joints you will find. Reservations a must.

Of course you know about the wonderful Carrie Cerino's on the SW side. Also the Pub at Don's Pomeroy House is a great, less expensive option than their formal dining room. The burger there is really, really good and is natural/no hormone beef. we also have Maha's falafil (same peeps in the WSM). And of course the wonderful Capri pizza in Middleburg, which IMO is the best pizza around unless you want to drive to Akron for Luigi's. Great BBQ and beer at The Brew Kettle in Strongsville.

These are just off the top of my head, if I think of more I will let you know.

I enjoyed this as well. As I almost never venture to the E side, I only recently discovered Balaton and only discovered Anatolia last year. Now I can't stay away from either place!

I wish E siders would come over to the W side to discover some of our gems too.
