I've been there twice and simply ordered "fries." VERY salty both times, overcooked (IMO) both times (several hard, dark brown pieces that were inedible) and after maybe half a portion, the inside of my mouth started to get eaten away from whatever spice was on the fries. This only happens when I have a seasoning salt of some kind.

american cheese or not, five guys is amazing.

rockandroller, are you sure you didn't receive the cajun fries instead of the regular fries? i have never had an experience like that with the restaurant's unflavored fries. there is very little salt on them.

I had Five Guys the first time I took my daughter to look at University of South Carolina - and then it bacame a must-have on every visit! Now she is transferring to OSU and I have no reason for 10 hour drives to Columbia, SC so I am totally pumped that they are coming to the east side! High five Five Guys!

Ok, it looks like the burger I get is under 50, but still higher than I would like. Oh well, it's still a damn good burger - unhealthy, but good!

Amy - a burger without cheese is just meatloaf - that's great! Honestly, I didn't even notice about the cheese but I'm guessing that's true because I've never been asked what type of cheese. Do yourself a favor and just try it - I bet you'll love it!

I happen to LOVE cheeseburgers, but have yet to try that place, and I'm in Avon all the time too. But the reason is because I heard that they only have american cheese (a travesty to cheese in my opinion). Do you know if that was true? If not, I will go there this weekend! Otherwise, a burger without cheese is just meatloaf.
