For two hours, a group of 50 or so listened to music, sampled light hors d’oeuvres, and were taken on a trip throughout the regions of Italy where we enjoyed wines and cheese hand selected by Brandon, a certified sommelier, fromager and trained chef — a triple threat (read more about Brandon here).
When we went there a few months ago, this was the one thing that really stood out about L'albatros. I was struck at Brandon's, (I think I called him Brenden for some reason in my review), enthusiasm and knowledge about what he was serving. If I had to recommend one thing off the menu - this would be it.

When we went to Gary Danko in SF they had a similar kind of setup but the meal costs 3x that of L'albatros.

Brandon was actually by the door when we went to leave. He really is a very interesting person to talk to.

Thanks for posting this.

-Cal

I was at albatros for my third time tonight and decided to try out the cheese, i've always been a big fan of cheese plates but this one really does take the cake. Brandon came to the table and presented me with more cheeses then i knew what to do with, offering to pair it with the wine i was drinking,, give me a taste of each and pick the ones i like or let him pick his favorites. I chose the last with the caveat that i get one triple cream.....which it turned out he hadn't had on the platter for the night. No problem though as he went to the back and came back with more triple creams then i knew what to do with. I ordered 5 cheeses but he was kind enough to present me with 6 because they had a special cheese with black truffle in it. I must say this was some of the best cheese i've ever had.
