Wow - a lot of chatter about Umami, which is kinda funny b/c this post has nothing to do with that restaurant. And it sounds like it's the same person posting under different names.

Clearly one of you had a bad experience there and is now on a mission to spread the word. Christy, if you were this unhappy, perhaps you should share your experience with the chef/management? That's what I try to do when I have a bad experience someplace. I'm sure they would want to know how a server treated you. I don't know the chef or have any ties to that restaurant, but I can say that I have had lunch there twice - when they served lunch - and both times it was just us. So if I ownved a business that in the end was costing me money to keep it up, then I'd close during that time, too. And while the falls may be packed on the weekend and in the evening, it really isn't during the day - and I'm down there constantly during the week. For dinner, they always seem to be packed - which isn't hard because the place is small. And yes, I agree that there are horrible choices in the falls, I've written that several times. That's why I am so happy to have Umami and have really enjoyed all our meals there - and am looking forward to the Slow Food dinner in a few weeks. As for posting on Facebook, I can only assume he shared the news via other communications b/c yes I agree, not everyone is on FB. but why wouldn't he also share on FB - that's a no-brainer. He has a fan page and it's an easy way to communicate to your customers.

Getting a reuben at Dave's is the best. If Umami doesn't want to do lunch anymore, it's their loss.

I completely agree. We were in Chagrin for the art show and wanted to try Umami. CLOSED and by the way YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT ON FACEBOOK? We said no and walked over to Joey's. Nice try Umami, better luck somewhere else.

I had a big part show up to Umami hoping for lunch. We were completely put off when told to get out as they didn't serve lunch anymore. Its bizarre that ML would post comments on his Facebook but not post a notice on, oh I'm not sure, HIS WEBSITE?? Ridiculous.people do not yet check Facebook for restaurant hours change announcements. He just lost 10 potential diners. It'll be a matter of time Umami goues under and is replaced by.a bar.

Too bad for Umami that in Chagrin Falls old people eat at horrible places like Fresh Diner and Yours Truly. They can't even do a salad right. The biggest crowds are usually during the day. If Umami can't serve lunch, they'll be around until the end of the summer and then close up. The only food that can exist in the falls in crap subs and crap pizza. The old farts deserve the food they get.

Hey Cleveland's Food Critic... I think you are the one that should check facts first, Umami was open for lunch for a few months but last week decided to just stick with dinner service because they weren't doing a big draw for lunch. The chef sent out a notice on facebook last week. Too bad, lunch was a nice option.

I've had very inconsistent experiences at Table 45, but when it's good it's very good. For a hotel restaurant, it's definitely a step above. (I guess that's kind of back-handed compliment.)

On a side note, does anyone else find mexichef's personal grammar code annoying? give it a rest, man. haha.
