symon on: west side openings, swenson’s, judging next iron chef & why he’s better at cooking than music trivia

Yesterday, a bunch of bloggers from across the country were selected to interview Michael Symon via phone. The process itself was quite fun and I was excited to be included, but also a little weird at the same time. I’d watch him on screen answer my questions, but there was a 5 second delay between the audio and visual. So I’d watch him laugh – that laugh – with a delay which led me to fumble my thoughts a bit an even forget to ask my last question.

Each blogger only got a few minutes. The goal was to promote his two new shows: The Next Iron Chef and Food Feuds. But of course, I wanted to talk about Cleveland. And a little bet we made at a Christmas, er Festivus, party last year. Truthfully, I don’t expect or want him to pay up. Knowing I won a bet and know just a little bit more about his beloved Guns N’ Roses than he does, is tastier than any dish he could whip up. Ok, maybe not, but you get where I’m going with this.

Food Feuds, which decides  once and for all which dish defines a city, premiers October 14. Iron Chef  Symon sought out the  most intense, long-standing culinary rivalries across the country – including right here in our backyard. The Next Iron Chef, where Symon will be a first-time judge (watch his thoughts on this experience here), premieres on October 3. And you can also watch him on The Cooking Channel during Cook like an Iron Chef. On a side note, we ordered this channel just for this show. I think it’s my favorite program of his to date and I really like the set up. I’ve also found several new shows on the channel that I regularly set the DVR to so it’s worth ordering it if you don’t already have.

Fun interview... and Michelle, you have a really nice speaking voice! It's too bad that voices get lost on twitter (real voices, that you hear)...

Also great that you included your readers questions. Way to engage! :)

His laugh is the best. Love it.

He makes me laugh! Love him!

Congrats on being selected and the success of your blog. I love it and have added it to my blogroll. Cleveland Solidarity! Maybe you could check out mine and give me some pointers?
Stay Cheesy!
