cleveland beer week: brewzilla, want to go?

On October 24 at the Old Arcade, the first annual Cleveland Beer Week will come to a close with Brewzilla, a beer tasting  event featuring over 50 breweries (craft and import) paired with food from Heinen’s, Lilly Handmade Chocolates and Winking Lizard.

Ticket prices range from $40 – $75 (Brewer’s Circle – all access) and benefits the Malone Scholarship Fund. Full event details and purchase information can be accessed here.

This has all the makings for a fun night out: great location, fun crowd, good cause and yummy food (soup “shots” – pumpkin bisque, miso and Cleveland clambake, bratwurst sandwiches, salumi and cheese, gourmet pretzels, and more).

Want to win a pair of the Brewer’s Circle tickets and sample “circle only” brews? I’m giving away 2 pair of tickets courtesy of Cleveland Beer Week. To win, raise your glass and toast our city’s first annual beer week. The two best toasts win. You have from now until Friday at noon. Good luck.

Let us have Fatheads and women,
    Great Lakes and laughter,
Sermons and Lucky’s brunch the day after.

To Cleveland, O Cleveland, great town with great brews.
Just what I need to soften the news
of our Browns and our Tribe in perpetual snooze.
Let’s all raise a glass, and hope the Cavs never lose!

    Beer and Food
    What better way to feast
    Except for maybe
    The Steelers being beat

Oh Great Lakes, and your Dortmunder
To Fat Head’s, and your Head Hunter
Oh Indigo Imp, so glad you’re around
And Buckeye, your beers are a gem to be found

Now Hoppin’ Frog and Thirsty Dog, yes you’re from Akron
But during Cleveland Beer Week, we hope you’re ready to make it happen!

    Behold Cleveland Beer Week!
Let us toast to the first!
    Dortmunder, Blonde Bobshell
    You’ll all quench our thirst!

    Events full of tastings,
    great food, song and dance.
    We’ll drink ‘til we’re merry
(but we won’t pee our pants)

Here’s to hops, here’s to barley
    Here’s to fermenting the yeast!
    We’ll cruise down Euclid Ave
to East Fourth Street to feast!

    So come far and wide
    To our city so fair.
    Cleveland, dear Cleveland
    And beer, what a pair!

Cheers to good friends and great beer,
Prost to those that we hold dear,
Salut to good times yet to come,
    Skol and drink for everyone.

Man, Adam’s looks hard to beat…but here’s my shot downfield:

To Beer Week-because if it was “Beer Year”, I’d never sleep.

    I have an old friend
    Who’s always there
    When the Browns cannot score
    And good weather is rare

    Although his name changes
And he may be red, yellow or brown
    It’s easy to find him
    At bars all over town

When they ask for my order
    I just smile and wink
    Point to the taps
And say “That’s what I’ll drink”

    So here’s to you beer
    I’ll save you a seat
As I toast to our friendship
    At Cleveland Brew Week

    As Clevelanders, we are fortunate
We get the best brew from East to West
But we know the Great Lakes Region
    Is better than the rest

From Buckeye, Bells and Hoppin Frog
To Great Lakes, Fat Heads and New Holland
    Let’s welcome beer fans everywhere
To Beer Week here in Cleveland

    I raise this pint
    And propose a toast
To the very first brew week
    On the North Coast

    The baseball is over
    The Browns make me swear
    The weather is dismal
    But let’s not despair

    Because October now is
    A month to embrace
As we spend this week savoring
    That great beer taste!

    Craft brews in Cleveland?
    It may sound insane.
But if you get our city,
You know they’re one in the same.

    We’re small, unappreciated
By those not in the know.
Trying to make it as the little guy,
    With much room to grow.

    But with flavor, and love,
    And complexity so great.
Raise a craft brew to Cleveland,
    For the future awaits!

Wow, such good toasts! Thanks for entering and putting some thought to this. Christine Montague, the woman behind Beer Week, has picked the winners: Molly and Jeremy. Congratulations and enjoy the night. I’ll be in touch with your tickets.
